Deutz diesel engine. Diesel engines have the highest thermal efficiency (engine efficiency) among any actual internal combustion engine or internal combustion engine, due to their very high expansion ratio and inherent lean combustion. Compared with two-stroke non direct injection gasoline engines, it also avoids small efficiency losses because unburned fuel does not exist at valve overlap, so there is no fuel directly entering the exhaust from the intake/injection. The thermal efficiency of low-speed diesel engines (used in applications where the total weight of ships and other engines is relatively unimportant) can exceed 50%.
